What communications equipment can LBP batteries back up?
They are used as backup power for cell towers, data servers and emergency communication networks. If your site runs something else, call us at 727-223-9831, tell us what the load is, and we can help you pick a setup.
How long will the batteries keep my equipment running in an outage?
It comes down to how much current your equipment pulls. For a rough number, divide the battery's amp hours by the amps of the load. On paper, a 100Ah battery on a 10 amp load works out to about 10 hours. Lithium can also be run all the way down and holds a steady voltage the whole time, where most lead acid makers say not to go past 50%.
Can I link batteries into a bigger bank or a 24V or 48V system?
Yes. You can connect up to 4 LBP batteries, in parallel or in series. Two 12V batteries in series make 24V. A multi-bank charger will charge all of them at once. We also make 24V, 36V and 48V batteries if you would rather start at the higher voltage.
What protects a battery sitting on a site nobody is watching?
Every LBP battery has a built-in Battery Management System (BMS). It stops the battery from being overcharged, keeps the cells balanced while it charges, and shuts the battery off if there is a short or a temperature problem. A battery that has shut itself off this way is in protection mode, which is the BMS doing its job.
What charger should I use?
Use a lithium compatible charger at the same voltage as the battery. We recommend one of our own LBP smart chargers. If an inverter charger is doing the charging, set its charging voltage to match your setup; the charging profile is on our FAQ page, or call us and we will walk through it.
Can the batteries get wet?
They are IP65 rated, so they can get wet. They are not waterproof, though. Submerging one can make the silicone seal fail, and it voids the warranty.
